So, funny story. Nava’s CEO Brandon Weber founded his previous company just as Homebrew itself was getting started. We got introduced and leapt into the scrum to lead his round. After some great conversations Brandon delivered the news that he had selected a well-established SaaS VC firm instead of us but would love to bring us in with a smaller check.
We shared that wouldn’t work for us - I mean, Homebrew was just building its reputation and only wanted to lead/co-lead (which we ended up doing successfully for a decade). He understood and we shook hands, vowing to work together ‘on the next one.’
Well, the next one was Nava Benefits which just announced its successful acquisition by Alliant Insurance. And yes, as we both hoped, we did work together on this one!
As we believe, relationships transcend companies, and we know the relationship with Brandon will continue beyond this outcome. But for now, congratulations to Brandon and the team!
